We have been declared winners of the 2018 International Champions Cup (ICC).
The pre-season competition saw 18 top clubs from all over Europe competing against each other across multiple continents in friendly matches in preparation for the 2018/19 campaign.
Regular participants in the annual tournament in recent years, our young side put on some impressive performances in our three ICC games in the USA last month as we beat Roma 4-1, came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Barcelona before losing on penalties, then triumphed 1-0 over AC Milan.
Inter Milan’s 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening saw the Italian side draw level with us and Borussia Dortmund on seven points, but we remained top of the pile with a superior goal difference, thus winning the competition.
Our competitive season got underway in positive fashion earlier on Saturday as we claimed a 2-1 win at Newcastle United in our Premier League opener, Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli on target.
