World Cup 2014 - Ossie and Ricky's view

Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa helped Argentina lift the World Cup in 1978, just before famously joining Spurs.

So who better to give their views on this summer's tournament than the legendary Spurs duo?

Not surprisingly, Argentina figure prominently!

Here's what they had to say when we quizzed them about Brazil, 2014.

Ricky: "Argentina have great players, especially from the middle of the pitch to the front with Messi and Aguero, for me two of the top front players in the world. We don’t have a good balance at the moment but we expect the manager to put the team together.

"Everyone says we have an easy group and if we start confidently, we will have a chance. But Brazil is Brazil and I wouldn't bet against them. Maybe there is pressure, but I don’t believe the Brazilian players feel that pressure out there, they go onto the pitch and play. I expect Argentina to reach the last four at least."

Ossie: "I hope this interview doesn’t go to Argentina because when they hear in Argentina that Ricky is backing Brazil, they won’t be happy with him! But what he says in right. Going forward, Argentina have the best team in the world right now with Di Maria, Aguero, Higuain and Messi but the team is a little unbalanced and our defence could be our Achilles Heel, so we will have to wait and see. I would say Argentina will reach the semi-final at least."

Ricky: "I live in South America do I don’t see what is happening here in Europe with Belgium, but I hear they have a good team. The history of the country, they play good football, I like a team to come from nowhere like that. Spain and Germany from Europe will have a chance as well."

Ossie: "I believe the winner will be a team that has already won the World Cup, so I’m looking at Argentina, Brazil and Spain. Certainly, Belgium could be a dark horse and they will be difficult to beat, very strong team, very good players, well organised.

"Uruguay will be difficult as well. They qualified badly, just qualified through the back door really, but they have Luis Suarez up front and normally they are strong defensively, so for me, they will be the dark horses."
