World Cup 2014 - Nacer wants focus from the off

Nacer Chadli believes Belgium must concentrate from the first whistle when they open their World Cup campaign against Algeria on Tuesday.

The much-fancied Red Devils kick off in Group H at 5pm, with Nacer one of three Spurs players in the Belgian ranks alongside Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele.

Another of Nacer’s White Hart Lane team-mates, Nabil Bentaleb, could line up for Algeria at Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.

But it’s not only a knowledge of Nabil’s game that has put the attacking midfielder on his guard ahead of his nation’s first outing in a group that also includes Russia and South Korea.

“Algeria are a good team, they are strong and they can play football,” Nacer said.

“I’ve seen Algeria play once before and I think they have some good footballers. Obviously I know Nabil is a very good talented midfielder and it will be good to see him. It would be exciting to play against him but we have to be focussed.

“We have to play well against every team we face because they’re all dangerous.”
