‘A change is as good as a rest’ goes the saying, and Jesus Perez has explained that is very much the thinking behind the squad’s trip to Barcelona this week for a mid-season training camp.
The players flew out to Spain after Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City and trained for the first time at the famous Olympic Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Mauricio Pochettino took the squad out to Barcelona this time last year as well and his assistant Jesus explained the thinking behind the camp.
“Last season we had a great experience here as a team and the players wanted to repeat the same training camp,” he said. “Thankfully, the fixtures allowed us to come here after the Manchester City game. It’s good to change routine, to stay together in a nice city and to share time together as a group.”
