What a weekend for Warburton

Weekends don't get much bigger for Spurs fan Sam Warburton.

The Wales and Lions skipper will lead his country out at the Millennium Stadium tonight (Friday, February 6) for the opening match of the Six Nations against England.

Less than 24 hours later and he's hoping to be at White Hart Lane for the North London derby!

"I'd love to be at the Lane for that one," Sam told us back in October, when he made it to the Lane for our 1-0 win against Southampton.

Sam was just about to lead his team into the Autumn internationals ahead of a huge year on the rugby front.

Wales lost narrowly to Australia, lost to New Zealand and beat Fiji and South Africa back in November and now it's stage two of the calendar - the Six Nations.

The first game is always huge and Sam isn't taking much notice of a few injuries on the England side.

"They've got plenty of quality and the first thing I thought of when they announced their team was 'that's a real good pack.'" he said. "You never play against a bad England team.

"There's too many good players in England for them to have a bad side. So I'm expecting another brutal encounter."

The year ends with the Rugby World Cup in England and Wales - when the host nations will do battle again.

"The World Cup is at the back of everyone’s mind and for me, as a Welshman, it’s the closest I will get to have a home World Cup and with England in our group as well, it makes it very tasty!

“The Wales-England game, for the players on both sides, will be the one of the biggest games they’ve ever played in. It will be a target for every English and Welsh player, a massive occasion.”
