Zenon Stylianides insists our youngsters will not get carried away after Thursday night’s victory over Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup.
The hard-working midfielder was shifted from his usual central position out to the right side in the first leg of our semi-final clash with the Blues at White Hart Lane.
Having performed well in that role and helped us register a 2-0 win through goals from Josh Onomah and Kazaiah Sterling, Zenon confirmed the players enjoyed their big night in front of the live TV cameras – but said they’ll be keeping their feet firmly on the ground in advance of the second leg at Stamford Bridge on March 18.
“I’m very pleased with how it went tonight and from the first whistle, everyone was on it,” he said.
“I felt I adapted quite well in the wider position and the midfield as a whole was quite solid.
“We created a few chances, especially on the counter, we defended well and when we had the ball we made it count.
“It’s good to have a two-goal lead to take into the second leg. Everyone in the changing room is buzzing but we don’t want to get too happy because we know that we have the second leg coming up where we have to keep our focus and concentrate.”
