Nabil Bentaleb’s Algeria secured qualification for the African Cup of Nations with a 3-0 victory at home to Malawi on Wednesday.
The win maintained Algeria’s 100 per cent record in qualifying for the tournament finals, which will be held next year, with Nabil playing the full 90 minutes.
Elsewhere, Emmanuel Adebayor captained Togo to a second consecutive 1-0 win over Uganda as his side boosted their own hopes of qualifying. They had been without a point prior to the international break, but their back-to-back wins have given them a real chance of making it through.
Meanwhile, young midfielder Harry Winks went on as an 82nd minute substitute for England Under-19s as they triumphed 3-0 over Belgium to make it three wins out of three in their European Championship qualifying campaign.
