Jan Vertonghen insists we'll have to be at our 'top level' to secure a positive result at Newcastle tonight.
The Belgian international is set for his third appearance since returning from the ankle injury that ruled him out for two months and 12 matches in all competitions.
Jan reached the 50-game milestone last time out against Everton, helping us to an important 1-0 win and 10th clean sheet in the Premier League this season.
He was an unused substitute on our last visit to St James’ Park on the first day of last season, when we suffered a 2-1 loss after Hatem Ben Arfa’s late penalty.
“It was my first game involved in the first team last season,” recalled Jan.
“I didn’t play, didn’t come off the bench, but it was a good experience for me.
“The only thing I can remember is that St James’ Park is a difficult place to go, everyone knows that and we will have to be at our top level to get three points there.
“We lost that game and we all want to do better this time. They have good players and a good team but we do well away, we play with confidence and hopefully we can do the same on Wednesday night.”
