Walker week - 'We all want to achieve big things here'

Wed 18 January 2017, 16:30|Tottenham Hotspur

As one of our longest-serving players and the highest appearance-maker in the current Spurs squad (213), Kyle Walker is often asked to compare this squad to the one that he first came in to back in 2009. It was a subject he touched on again after the 4-0 win against West Brom and below in today's instalment of 'Walker week'.

Walker week - Part 3

Where do you see this team and squad at the moment?
Kyle: "I’ve spoken about this before...(when Kyle first came to the Club) we had the likes of Bale, Adebayor was flying, Modric, van der Vaart, King, Huddlestone, Lennon. There were players who I looked at in that dressing room...and I’m missing names out like Crouchy and Kranjcar, it was fantastic.

"However, as a team, that togetherness in the dressing room Monday to Friday, it’s probably better and more together now. We’re young, we’re still learning and we want to achieve big things but it’s still very early and we have to keep playing how we’re playing, listen to the gaffer and keep doing what we’re doing."

How much do you enjoy playing in this team?
Kyle: "It’s great, I’ve got the insurance behind me of Eric Dier and Victor, who I think has been a fantastic signing to balance it all up, and it’s great to be able to get forward and show what I can do further up the pitch. It's nice to get a few more assists, that's something I’m working on."
