Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

TOM MORRIS (1899-1913)

One of the early greats at Spurs, Tom Morris helped establish the club in the early part of the twentieth century.

He played more Southern League games than any other Spurs player, was a key player in our Southern League triumph of 1899-00, played in the first ever match at the Lane, played throughout the 1901 FA Cup triumph and was the only member of that team still at the club when we entered the Football League. The only honour missing was a full England cap.

A half-back, Morris started his career at Grantham Rovers and Gainsborough Trinity before joining us in 1899.

Powerful, determined and comfortable in defence or attack, he went on to play 523 games for us in all positions including 63 after our entry into the Football League.

After 13 years of service he retired to become a member of our ground staff, where he remained until his death in 1942.

Appearances/goals: 63/2 (Lg), 7/1. Total appearances: 523.
