Toby and Vincent score spectacular goals on international duty

Sat 08 October 2016, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Toby Alderweireld and Vincent Janssen struck in spectacular style for Belgium and Holland respectively as our players enjoyed a positive night of World Cup qualifying action on Friday.

Central defender Toby scored a goal any striker would be proud of as Belgium beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-0 in UEFA qualifying Group H in Brussels, meeting Dries Mertens' corner with a flick on the volley that flew past Asmir Begovic at the near post.

Toby and Jan Vertonghen partnered each other centrally and took their Spurs form onto the international stage with another clean sheet. Both played the full 90 minutes. Mousa Dembele wasn't involved. Belgium top Group H with two wins in two and now travel to Gilbraltar on Monday.

Vincent's goal for Holland was equally impressive. The striker had already made his mark with two assists as the Dutch led Belarus 3-1 in Rotterdam before putting the icing on the cake with the fourth goal. Robbing Syarhey Palitsevich of possession some 40 yards from goal, Vincent sprinted towards goal before unleashing a drive into top corner from 20 yards.

It ended 4-1, Vincent played 83 minutes, Holland top Group A from France and Sweden and now Vincent's side meet Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko's France in a cracker in Amsterdam on Monday.

Speaking of France, Hugo captained Les Bleus to a 4-1 victory against Bulgaria in Paris on Friday night.

It didn't all go to plan at the Stade de France as Bulgaria took an early lead from the penalty spot but France responded in style, led 3-1 by half-time and wrapped it up after the break. Hugo and Moussa both completed the 90 minutes.
