'This is the hardest I've ever worked' - Clinton

Thu 07 July 2016, 16:42|Tottenham Hotspur

As he approaches the end of the first week of pre-season training, Clinton Njie will testify that Mauricio Pochettino’s fitness regime really does live up to its reputation!

The Cameroon international was one of the first players to report back to Hotspur Way after the summer break last Friday and quickly set about getting ready for the new campaign.

It’s the rapid attacker’s first full pre-season under Mauricio, having arrived at the Club from Lyon right at the beginning of last term.

Of course, he missed much of the second half of 2015-16 through injury but now, having grafted through a series of intense double sessions over the last few days, the 22-year-old feels like he’s got a new lease of life and is relishing our Manager’s demanding summer programme.

“This is the hardest I have been working in my career,” Clinton admitted. “It’s been going very well, we’ve been training very hard and I think all the guys who are in have been doing well for themselves.

“Training is tough but we need to do this because we want to have a great season. You saw last season that we were one of the best and fittest teams in the Premier League so I think this is the time to work harder to enable us to perform at the top level.

“Like I said, the sessions are really tough but we don’t complain because we will see the results in the end and that’s important.”
