Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Sven Goran Eriksson was full of praise for Jermain Defoe after his superb strike in England's 2-1 win in Poland.

Coach Eriksson handed Jermain his first senior start in place of Alan Smith, replaced David James with Paul Robinson and stuck with Ledley King at the back as three Spurs players started for England for the first time since 1987.

Our in-form striker added to his domestic tally with his first senior international goal in the crucial World Cup qualifying victory in Warsaw.

Lively all night, Jermain opened the scoring after 37 minutes. He controlled David Beckham's pass, left Polish defender Glowacki for dead in the area and volleyed home from 10 yards.

Zurawski levelled for the Poles just after half-time bur England clinched the points when Michael Owen went in for Ashley Cole's cross with Glowacki and the defender diverted the ball home.

Eriksson said afterwards: "It couldn't have been much better for Defoe's debut. He played very well and created chances. He is a great talent, not only that but a great player and he will score goals."
