Sully relishes challenge

Sun 16 September 2001, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Neil Sullivan views this afternoon’s Sunday special against Chelsea as part one of a particularly challenging sequence of games for the club.

Setting the record straight against the blues is the first priority for Sully and boys, and our inspirational shot-stopper confident of turning the tables and reaping significant points from the next month.

“It is a very difficult one,” conceded Sully. “But I think it is the beginning of a difficult period. We’ve got them, then Sunderland, Liverpool, Manchester United coming up in quick succession.<<P>“It’s the start of a very tough month for us. We’ll do our best and hopefully pick up the points, especially being at home.”

Sully is unfazed by the lack of points secured against Chelsea in the last 11 years, pointing the fact that our own team has a different look to it. In fact, Sully insists it won’t even cross his mind.

“No, not at all. I’ve only been here one year, we got beat last year, but this is a new year. We’ve got new players, new staff, so hopefully that will help us and we’ll get a good result against them.”

In terms of ‘star men’ in the Chelsea side, Sully struggled to pick out one in particular. Hasselbaink? Zola? Desailly?

“Keep going,” laughed Sully. “They are such a talented squad now and I think they have got a squad of players which is very impressive. But we’ve got a good squad here now - a lot of good players.

“We will watch videos and see how they play and how to nullify their threats — we’ll just have to do it on Sunday.”
