Tim Sherwood described our final six games as ‘cup finals’.
Head Coach Tim knows the importance of returning to form against Sunderland on Monday after last weekend’s defeat at Liverpool.
Sunderland kick-starts the final lap of the campaign with West Brom, Fulham, Stoke, West Ham and Villa to follow.
“It’s important we bounce back,” stated Tim. “We’ve six games now and for me, they are all cup finals. It’s really important for pride and to show fans we want to do our best for this football club.
“It’s been a difficult week because everyone is upset. If you care about your career, you will be upset about taking a beating like that.
“Saying that, it comes around thick and fast in football, the next game is ahead and we have to get on with it. You have to put it to one side. It will always be there scarring you, but the only way to put it right is to win on Monday.”
Tim feels Sunderland haven’t reaped the rewards for some good performances of late and Gus Poyet’s men arrive at the Lane without a win in six in the Premier League.
“I thought they were unlucky at Liverpool, spirited in how they played, but they just aren’t picking up the results,” he added.
“If they show the spirit their manager had when he played they will go very close to staying up, but they need to find results quickly.
“I’d like Sunderland to stay up for Gus’s sake but I don’t want him to start winning from Monday.
“From our point of view, we have to play with a lot of freedom and go out there and try to entertain the fans.”
