Mauricio Pochettino is determined to build on Wednesday’s FA Cup victory against Burnley and return to winning ways in the Premier League against Sunderland at the Lane this afternoon (Saturday, January 17, 3pm).
Our fine run in the Premier League came to an end at Palace last weekend but the lads hit back with a 4-2 win against the Clarets after going 2-0 down inside seven minutes.
Now league points are the target against a Sunderland team who can prove a tough nut to crack - 11 draws in 21 matches so far underlines that fact and the Black Cats came from behind twice as we drew 2-2 at the Stadium of Light in September.
“We had a good victory against Burnley in the FA Cup on Wednesday and now we have to focus on Sunderland,” said Mauricio.
“We were disappointed with the result at Palace but we need to look forward and to be ready for Sunderland.
“Sunderland are a good team, a difficult opponent and we need to be ready.
“They are strong and physical and we expect a tough game because they will come to White Hart Lane to try to get the three points as well.
“As I always say, the most important thing is how we play.”
