1933 Three Spurs players – Jimmy Brain, Willie Evans and David Levene – all appear in a special game at White City to test the idea of floodlit matches.
2005 A stunning Pedro Mendes lob from halfway clearly crosses the goal-line at a blustery Old Trafford but the ‘goal’ is not given. We have to settle for a 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

1955 We win 2-0 at Gateshead in the third round of the FA Cup. Johnny Brooks scores both.
1972 We draw 2-2 at home to Chelsea in our League Cup semi-final return but go out on a 5-4 aggregate. Martin Chivers scores in both games.

1883 We lose 8-1 at local side Latymer in a friendly.

1939 We beat Watford 7-1 in the FA Cup at the Lane. We wear shirt numbers for the first time.

1914 We draw 5-5 with Leicester Fosse in the first round of the FA Cup. Bert Bliss scores twice.
1987 We beat Third Division Scunthorpe United 3-2 in the FA Cup at the Lane.

1936 A 4-4 FA Cup third round draw with Southend United at the Lane. Johnny Morrison and Fred Sargent share our goals.
1969 David Jenkins scores his first Spurs goal in a 1-1 draw at Stoke.

1953 After a 1-1 FA Cup third round draw at Tranmere, we win the return 9-1. We go on to reach the semis.

1923 We scrape a 0-0 FA Cup home draw with non-league Worksop Town. They then agree to stage the replay at the Lane – and we hammer them 9-0! Alex Lindsay scores four with Tich Handley grabbing a hat-trick.

1914 Centre-forward George Gemmell makes his debut in the FA Cup return with Leicester. We win 2-0 but that proves to be his only senior appearance for us.
2008 Captain Robbie Keane (pictured, below) hits the sole goal in the FA Cup at Reading.

1914 Tom Clay signs for Spurs from hometown club Leicester Fosse.
1946 Forest play Watford at the Lane in a third FA Cup tie after two draws. The Hornets win by the only goal after extra time.

1914 Tom Clay makes his debut along with Harry Sparrow in a 3-1 home win over Oldham. Sparrow scores twice and Ed Lightfoot also bags his first Spurs goal.
2015 We beat Sunderland 2-1 at the Lane thanks to a late one from Christian Eriksen.
