Spurs 3-1 United (FAYC) - Kieran's verdict

Kieran McKenna was full of praise for how our Under-18s handled the occasion of an FA Youth Cup tie at White Hart Lane and delivered a convincing win against Manchester United.

The lads thoroughly deserved their 3-1 victory as a double from Anthony Georgiou either side of Ismail Azzaoui’s goal - his fifth in this FAYC run so far - set-up a quarter-final tie at Forest.

At times a cagey affair, we always had the greater goal threat and once Ismail restored our lead at 2-1 just after the hour there only looked one winner.

“I thought it was a really good performance and an excellent game between two sides who looked to play football in an attractive style,” said coach Kieran.

“There were a lot of good players out there and to come out on top with some excellent goals and individual performances made for a pleasing night.

“For quite a few of the lads it’s the first time they’ve played at the stadium, certainly with a sizeable crowd and a good atmosphere. It’s a massive event for them and you can’t underestimate that.

“Their families were here and they all wanted to play well for themselves and for the club, so credit to them for how they dealt with that situation. That bodes well for the future.”
