Spurs 1-5 Brighton U18s - Kieran's verdict

Kieran McKenna was left to reflect on a “very disappointing” afternoon after our Under-18s slumped to a 5-1 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

James Tilley bagged a hat-trick while Jordan Drew hit a brace as the Seagulls inflicted a heavy defeat on our youngsters in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League on Saturday.

Shayon Harrison’s deflected shot early in the second half was all we had to show for our efforts on a day of few positives for Under-18s Coach Kieran.

“We were not competitive enough,” he said. “I thought Brighton were more competitive than us today and more hungry for the ball, which was very disappointing.

“I was extremely disappointed with the goals we conceded. I thought we started the game well and we probably should have been ahead, but we let in poor goals.

“We were playing with people out of position but that’s no excuse, we still should be able to defend individually and collectively much better than we did.”

The lads will be looking to bounce back when they travel to Arsenal on Friday.
