Scott Parker has underlined the importance of Sunday’s victory over Liverpool.
The team put in an impressive performance against the Reds and were 1-0 up and in charge before the first of two sendings off reduced the visitors to 10 men.
Scott was key to that dominance on his home debut, alongside Luka Modric in the central midfield area, never allowing the likes of Charlie Adam, Lucas and Jordan Henderson time to settle.
Jermain Defoe and an Emmanuel Adebayor double, also on his Lane debut, saw us home to a comfortable 4-0 win.
“It was always a crucial game, we knew that,” said Scott.
“When a team like Liverpool come they are the teams that are going to be around you and you know you need to take points off them.
“It was a big game and we had to get the three points. We’re all delighted we managed to do that with such a good performance as well.”
Scott admitted to a few pre-match nerves before stepping out at the Lane for the first time as Spurs player.
“I was pretty nervous,” he smiled. “Obviously I’m quite experienced now, but it was quite a nerve-wracking day, at the same time very special and to start with a win like that was perfect.”
