Sissoko on FA Cup: 'Nobody will gift you the chance to win'

Wed 08 March 2017, 15:09|Tottenham Hotspur

Moussa Sissoko says the players must reproduce the levels of performance on show in Sunday’s win over Everton if we’re to see off Millwall in the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup this weekend.

The France international was introduced as a late substitute as we beat the Toffees by the odd goal in five to keep up our winning momentum in the Premier League.

With attentions now turning back to the world-renowned cup competition and another tricky tie with lower-league opposition on Sunday, Moussa believes another intense display will be required in order to avoid an upset.

“Nobody will gift you the chance to win the game so we have to play our football, stay focused and play this game like we played last Sunday against Everton if we want to go to the next round,” said the 27-year-old.

“We can see in this competition that every game is very difficult, regardless of what league the other team is from.

“The last game we played at home (4-3 victory over Wycombe Wanderers) was against a smaller team but it was very tough – we were losing, we came back, then they scored again and Sonny won it in the last minute but if you want to win this cup you have to fight to the end.”
