Seattle goal delights Lewis

Lewis Holtby said it was 'a special moment' to score our first goal in pre-season - and joined the chorus of praise for our fans in Seattle.

The midfielder darted between defenders to head home Harry Kane’s cross after just 10 minutes, registering the first goal of six as our Tour opener against Seattle Sounders ended 3-3 on Saturday.

That paved the way for an entertaining friendly in front of over 55,000 fans at CenturyLink Field.

The MLS side turned things around with goals either side of half-time from Gonzalo Pineda and Osvaldo Alonso’s belter from 30 yards.

Roberto Soldado levelled from the spot, Tristan Bowen tapped in for 3-2 before Yago Falque completed the scoring with our second penalty seven minutes from time.

“It was a brilliant pass from Harry and I’m pleased to score the first goal of pre-season, that’s a special moment for me, especially with a header!” said Lewis. “Hopefully I’ll keep going and keep scoring.

“A 3-3 result was good for the fans and for us in our first game against strong opposition in the middle of their season.

“It was a brilliant atmosphere and fantastic to see all the Lilywhite fans, so thanks to everyone who turned up.

“It’s always a pleasure to see their support, like we saw at training and at the fish market as well. It just shows how big this club is and the great support we have.”
