Seattle 3-3 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

Sun 20 July 2014, 05:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino declared himself 'very pleased' after our first pre-season friendly of the summer and opening Tour match - an entertaining 3-3 draw against high-flying MLS side Seattle Sounders on Saturday.

Lewis Holtby headed us into a 1-0 lead in the first half before a penalty from Gonzalo Pineda and Osvaldo Alonso's 30-yarder either side of the break turned the game in the home side's favour.

Roberto Soldado opened his account from the penalty spot to level at 2-2, Tristan Bowen nudged Sounders ahead again on 78 minutes before Yago Falque slotted home our second spot-kick four minutes later for the final 3-3 scoreline.

"I’m happy as it was the first game of the Tour, the conditions were difficult with warm temperatures and all the players did their best," said Mauricio.

"This is the time to improve and learn and I'm very pleased with all the players."

Our new Head Coach also had a message for our fans who showed their support in a magnificent crowd of 55,349 at CenturyLink Field.

"I want to say ‘thank-you’ to our supporters for yesterday at training and again today, your support was amazing."
