The midfielder - available again after suspension - suspects Everton's performance and victory at White Hart Lane on August 26 was a reaction to how we played at Goodison Park last season, our best away display rewarded by a 1-0 win last April.
Now the boot is on the other foot and we travel to Merseyside determined to put right that early-season loss at the Lane.
"Everton put in a good performance that day and it was one of our lesser displays, so it worked out in their favour," recalled JJ. "We'll be looking to repay them for that.
"They probably remembered what we did to them at Goodison last season and wanted to put it right at our place.
"Everton last season was probably our best game away from and we'll be looking to reproduce it."
JJ says he relishes the midfield battle at Goodison. "Everton are a tough side, they don't concede many goals and have dangerous strikers," he added.
"Goodison is a difficult place to go, always has been. I've played there a number of times, I love it there and if it's a battle, we'll battle and if it's a footballing match, we'll play football and hopefully come out on top."
Meanwhile, JJ will be looking for his own repeat performance - he scored within two minutes of our last away trip in the Premiership to Sheffield United. "Unfortunately, we failed to maintain it at Sheffield but at Fulham on Sunday we did maintain it after a good start and that's what we have to look to do, punish teams and finish them off."
