Robbo's back!

We can reveal that Paul Robinson will play in Ledley King's Guest XI side in his Testimonial Match on Monday, May 12.

Our popular former goalkeeper will be joined by a host of other Spurs players from Ledley's playing career including David Ginola, Teddy Sheringham and Darren Anderton as they take on our First Team to celebrate the career of one of our finest players.

Paul joined us from Leeds United in the summer of 2004 and soon became a firm favourite with our fans during a four-year spell with the Club where he made 175 appearances and even scored from a free kick inside his own half against Watford in March 2007.

An England international with 41 caps to his name, he was also a member of our League Cup winning side of 2008 that was captained by Ledley, and Robbo is relishing the prospect of lining up alongside our legendary skipper once again.

He said: "It is going to be a special night and one that I have been looking forward to. Ledley is King by name and certainly King when it came to his performances on the pitch. If his name was on the teamsheet we had that much more confidence that we wouldn't lose and would most likely win the game. His calmness and level of performances raised the game of those around him and there are not many players you could say that about. As a goalkeeper you would always want him out there in front of you.

"While it is a privilege to be invited to take part in Ledley's big night, on a personal level it will be a great occasion for me to play in front of the fans at the Lane again and rekindle some fond memories from a few years ago."

Our former skipper's chosen charities Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Skills project, The Willow Foundation and Bowel Cancer Awareness UK will all benefit from monies raised from Ledley's Testimonial Match, with the Tottenham Tribute Trust also set to receive a contribution of the funds received.
