Harry Kane was delighted to see his friend and team-mate Alex Pritchard win his first cap for England Under-21s.

The skilful attacking midfielder was called into the Young Lions’ squad for the first time for Euro U21 qualifiers against Lithuania and Moldova and made his debut off the the bench in Friday’s 1-0 victory against Lithuania - Harry scored the late winner.

England now face Moldova on Monday night with top spot secured and a place in the play-offs for next summer's final in Czech Republic. The winners of the seven play-offs go through to the finals.

Alex impressed during his loan spell at Swindon in League One last season and he’s continuing the good work in the Championship at Brentford so far this term.

“I’ve known Pritch for a long time now, he’s always been a top player and it was great to see him make his debut for the Under-21s,” said Harry.

“He deserves it. He works hard and he’s now getting his rewards.

“He’s a flair player, exciting to watch and every time he gets the ball you are waiting for him to take a player on or do a trick or two. He’s also got a great delivery and can finish, so he has all the ability.”

Harry and Alex are two of four Spurs players called up by the Under-21s including Tom Carroll (on loan at Swansea) and Eric Dier, who withdrew with a slight injury.

Danny Rose and Andros Townsend are in the England senior squad, Nabil Bentaleb with Algeria, Ben Davies with Wales plus the likes of Jordan Archer, Dominic Ball, Filip Lesniak, Aaron McEneff, Kenny McEvoy, Josh Onomah, Milos Veljkovic and Harry Winks all with youth international squads this week.

We’ve some great young players comining through the ranks,” added Academy graduate Harry. “It’s good to see them playing international football and gaining that experience. It can only make us better players.”
