Nacer targets super six

Nacer Chadli said our players have ‘turned the page’ this week in a bid to round off the season in the ascendancy.

We host Sunderland at White Hart Lane on Monday evening, looking for a swift return to winning ways after last week’s disappointment at Liverpool.

And with just six Premier League games remaining this term, Belgian international Nacer is keen to see us complete a league double over the Black Cats to kick-start the run-in to the end of the campaign.

“We still have six games to go and we have to turn the page and look forward, so that’s what we’re trying to do,” said the 24-year-old, who has started our last four games in all competitions.

“It was a very disappointing result against Liverpool for everybody, but you have to look forward and train as hard as you can and work for the next game.

“That’s what we’ve done this week. We know we still have six winnable games, so we have to try our best.”

Nacer played 84 minutes in our 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light in the reverse fixture back in December.

And with that experience of opposing Gus Poyet’s side under his belt, our attacking midfielder has been left in little doubt as to what to expect at the Lane on Monday.

“They are a hard-working team and they have some good players,” he added. “But we won there and now we have to win at home. With the game being on Monday we’ve had a few more days to work and to prepare ourselves for the game so we will be ready.”
