There were wins for Emmanuel Adebayor’s Togo and Nabil Bentaleb’s Algeria in African Cup of Nations qualifying on Saturday.
Ade spearheaded the Togo attack as they kept alive their hopes of reaching the tournament finals with a 1-0 win in Uganda, while Nabil played 81 minutes as Algeria notched their third victory from three qualifying matches with a 2-0 triumph in Malawi.
Elsewhere, Erik Lamela played an hour as Argentina were beaten 2-0 by Brazil in an international friendly in Beijing – while in Euro 2016 qualifying, Vlad Chiriches played 90 minutes for Romania as they drew 1-1 at home to Hungary.
It was the same scoreline for Denmark – for whom Christian Eriksen played the full match – as they bagged an equaliser nine minutes from time to draw 1-1 in Albania, also in a Euro 2016 qualifier.
Meanwhile, defender Dominic Ball played for England Under-20s as they registered a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Netherlands in their second match at the Four Nation Tournament, two goals in the final two minutes seeing them overturn a 2-1 deficit to win the game.
