Martin on... Lee Young-Pyo

Fri 02 September 2005, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Martin Jol offers his assessment on our new signing from PSV Eindhoven - South Korean international full-back Lee Young Pyo...

"LEE IS ONE of the best left-backs playing in Europe. He has played in the semi-finals of the World Cup and the Champions League and played for one of the best sides in Holland at PSV.

"He made a name for himself there even though it is difficult for Korean players at the start. He did well and they didn't want to sell him but he wanted to come to Tottenham and that changed everything.

"Lee is quite small but very strong and his energy levels are such that, as they say in Holland, he could play three games at once. I've watched him lately and he was one of PSV's better players and, even after the long trips to Korea for internationals, he comes back and plays well again. The boy is mentally and physically very good, he is an attacking full-back and that will be very good for us.

"Erik Edman did a very solid job for us and it is a good situation for a club to have two top left-backs, but Erik made the decision to go somewhere else and I respect his position."
