DeAndre Yedlin described the ‘unbelievable’ feeling of making his debut at the Lane – but couldn’t shake off the disappointment of defeat against Villa.
The USA international came off the bench in the second half as we tried to find a response to Christian Benteke’s first half goal.
Unfortunately an equaliser eluded us as we fell to a first home defeat in the league since November.
“It’s unbelievable to make my debut here, something I’ve looked forward to for a while now but the circumstances weren’t the best and it was a disappointing loss,” reasoned DeAndre.
“The only thing going through my head now is the loss. The debut was great but the loss overshadows everything. It’s disappointing but we have to keep our heads up.
“We’ll look to come back and get those points back."
DeAndre now hopes to get some more game time before the end of the season but in the meantime, thanked the fans for his reception. “It was great to walk out to that,” he added.
