It’s all set to be a summer of re-unions for Tom Carroll.
Our 22-year-old midfielder has quickly settled back into life at Hotspur Way during the recent pre-season training sessions after returning from a long-term loan spell at Queens Park Rangers.
And now that our tour of the USA and Canada is upon us, the England Under-21 international is looking forward to catching up with some former colleagues during our scheduled friendlies on the other side of the Atlantic.
Our first match takes place on Saturday against a Seattle Sounders side that includes ex-Spur Clint Dempsey, before we’re onward bound to Canada to face Toronto FC – the new club of our former striker Jermain Defoe. Chicago Fire will then be our opponents for the closing match of the tour.
“I’ve loved the first couple of weeks of pre-season – it’s great to be back,” beamed Tom, who was a second half substitute in all three of our games during our previous tour to the States back in 2012.
“Having spent the last six or so months away, it’s nice to come back and see all the lads and I’m enjoying training under Mauricio.
“It will be great to now see some of the lads who used to play for us during the tour. Obviously Jermain’s a bit of a legend here and Clint was well-liked too, so it will be nice to see them and see how they’re doing at their new clubs.”
