This weekend, Ledley King visited New River Sport and Fitness centre on White Hart Lane to mark the completion of a £4 million redevelopment of the site and formally open the new facilities.
Previously known as White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, New River has been transformed by the renovation works, turning it into a state-of-the-art sport and leisure destination for local residents to enjoy.
During his visit, Ledley was given a preview of the new facilities which include a brand new gym and exercise studios, refurbished 400m athletics track, indoor ‘air dome’ with four tennis courts, 10 new astro pitches and a mobile gym for outdoor fitness training.
Ledley was later joined by staff from New River to cut the ribbon and declare the new astro pitches open before refereeing a five-a-side match between local youth teams from the community.
Speaking about the new facilities, Ledley said: “I’m very impressed with these new facilities – I would have liked to have had access to pitches like this when I was growing up. It’s important to give young people access to a variety of sports where they can play against their peers in a fun, safe environment and that’s exactly what they can do here at New River.”
