Club Ambassador, Ledley King, dropped in on a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation run sports camp last week to mark the end of the charity’s four week summer programme.

The former skipper made the unannounced visit to Larkswood Primary School in Waltham Forest, one of five venues across the borough this year.

Joining in with coaching sessions, Ledley took time to answer questions and present participants with their end of week certificates and prizes.

Each year the Foundation, in partnership with the London Borough of Waltham Forest,runs four weeks of action packed multi-sports camps as part of the Council’s Summer Daze programme.

Designed for children and young people aged 5 - 19 year olds, camps are run by professionally qualified Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coaches and offer a wide range of multi-sports coaching including football, tennis, cricket and basketball.

This year, camps were held at:

* Walthamstow School for Girls

Holy Family Catholic School

* Leyton Sixth Form School

Larkswood Primary School

* Heathcote School

Ledley Said:

 “It’s always good to see kids enjoying their sport in a fun and safe environment during the school holidays. It’s important the Club, through its Foundation, does all it can to ensure local young people are staying active and away from trouble during this time, and I can tell you first-hand how enjoyable the summer camps are. A lot of credit has to go to the coaches from the Foundation for putting on this activity.”

Waltham Forest’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Ahsan Khan, said:

“The Council’s Summer Daze and Schools Open For Summer schemes offer all young people up to the age of 19, and young people with disabilities up to the age of 25, a huge range of free and low cost- and fun- activities. It’s all part of our commitment to keep young people entertained, educated and healthy during the school holidays. “
