Ladies in Ryman Cup QF action tonight

Wed 25 November 2015, 09:48|Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs Ladies aim to bounce back from Sunday's shock defeat against Portsmouth with a semi-final place at stake in the Ryman Cup tonight (Wednesday, November 25).

New signing, England Under-19 international Lucy Loomes is set to make her debut as Spurs travel to Gillingham in the quarter-final of the competition they were runners-up in last season.

Gillingham were relegated from the FA Women's Premier League South last term but have made a fine start in FAWPL South East One, where they sit third with six wins and just one loss in eight matches.

Spurs were left shell shocked by a 4-0 home loss to Portsmouth in the FAWPL on Sunday and manager Karen Hills is thankful for the chance to put it right.

"I'm delighted we're playing so soon after Sunday," said Karen. "We'll have a chat at training on Tuesday and try to put right what happened on Sunday.

"This is a big game for us. We're still on track in all cup competitions and having been runners-up last season, we're all determined to go one better this time around.

"It won't be easy at Gillingham. They play in South East One now but they are doing well and they will no doubt have seen Sunday's result and thought 'we've got a chance'.

"It's up to us to make sure it doesn't happen again, to go back to basics and make sure we get it right. The players were all gutted after Sunday and they are determined to bounce back."

Tonight's quarter-final is at Chatham Town FC, 7.45pm kick-off.
