Spurs Ladies found the perfect response to last week's league defeat with a resounding victory in the FA Women's Premier League Cup on Sunday.
Left frustrated by last week's loss against C&B Basildon - where they had two players sent off - the team responded in five-star style with a 5-1 win against Lewes in the competition's 'Determining Round'.
Riana Soobadoo, Katie O'Leary, Leah Rawle, Jenna Schillaci and Avilla Bergin were on target at Cheshunt.
Riana followed in Avilla's shot to open the scoring but Lewes levelled against the run of play soon after. Spurs responded well and Wendy Martin first found Katie to make it 2-1 and then provided the assist for Leah to tap home for 3-1 at the break.
Spurs' control continued after the break as Jenna converted a penalty after Katie was fouled and Shannon Maloney sent Avilla through on goal to complete the scoring.
It means the team will now enter the League Cup rather than the League Cup Plate.
"It was a good performance after last week, we needed that," reflected manager Karen Hills.
"We controlled the game throughout and importantly, responded well to Lewes' equaliser to lead 3-1 at half-time.
"It's good to go into the main competition and we'll wait to see who we play next."
The teams meet again in the FAWPL South this Sunday when Spurs travel to Lewes (2pm).
The FAWPL fixture against Charlton has been moved to Thursday, September 17. Kick-off is 7.45pm at Cheshunt FC.
