Kyle Walker is making it his mission to keep Jermain Defoe at bay when we play Toronto FC in the second game of our summer tour!
We’ll take on the Canadian outfit, who signed striker JD from us earlier this year, at their BMO Field home on Wednesday, July 23 – four days after our opening tour match against Seattle Sounders.
We then travel to face Chicago Fire on Saturday, July 26, as our preparations for the 2014-15 season continue.
Defender Kyle is relishing the prospect of taking on three MLS giants – and has earmarked Jermain as someone he’ll be closely monitoring in a bid to seal victory against Toronto.
“I can’t let JD score. If I do, he’ll be on the phone to me all the time. We won’t hear the last of it!” joked Kyle.
“Seriously, though, it’s always good to go abroad. It’s great for team bonding and we’ll play a few good games out there against MLS teams.
“The conditions are always top-class and the weather is good to train in.
“We’ve been welcomed out there when we’ve been before, the fans are always great and the icing on the cake is seeing some old faces.”
