Kyle passes Montero test

Kyle Walker welcomed his personal fitness test in Sunday’s dramatic win at Swansea.

The full-back started only the second game of his comeback from long-term injury and his first in the Premier League since March.

He was in direct competition with Swansea’s flying winger Jefferson Montero and having dealt with that threat throughout, showed his fitness with a number of drives forward later in the game as he completed 90 minutes.

“It couldn’t have gone any better really,” reflected Kyle. “Montero is probably the quickest I’ve come up against and after nine months out, you don’t really need that!

“I thought I did okay, so credit to the fitness coaches who have got me back into good shape. Hopefully it’s a stepping stone in the right direction.”

Kyle paid tribute to the team’s spirit after another late, late show.

Harry Kane headed us into an early lead but Swansea responded, created chances, levelled on 48 minutes and we had to weather the storm before finishing strongly and finally Christian Eriksen’s delivering another last-minute winner.

“We all knew we’d have to dig in deep here and that’s what we did,” added Kyle.

“Fair play to the lads, we don’t stop until that last whistle goes, we tried to get forward and get the goal that would get the win.

“Christian then did it again! He scored late at Hull and he did what he does best, stick the ball in the back of the net. It was a great moment and he can keep doing it!”
