Harry Kane has been named the England Under-17 squad for the Elite Qualifying Round of the UEFA European Championship.

Harry Kane has been named the England Under-17 squad for the Elite Qualifying Round of the UEFA European Championship.

Our Under-18s skipper and top scorer this season holds onto his place in the squad after impressing on his debut in the Algarve Cup.

Harry, still 16 and a First Year trainee, started one match and came off the bench in the other two as England lifted the Algarve tournament in Portugal last month.

England must top their Elite group - including Sweden, Malta and Slovakia - to join the seven other qualifiers in the European Finals in Liechtenstein in May.

They take on Sweden at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium this Saturday, March 27 before taking on Malta at Burton's Pirelli Stadium on Monday, March 29 and finally Slovakia back at Sixfields on Thursday, April 1.

"It's fantastic for the Academy and Harry that he's been recognised in this way," said Under-18s coach Alex Inglethorpe. "He's a lovely lad, a terrific young player with a great work ethic and one who will keep on improving."

Harry has scored 16 goals in 21 appearances in the Premier Academy League and FA Youth Cup and his performances have been rewarded with a place on the first-team bench twice this season.
