Josh Onomah described it the moment he'd been waiting for all his life.
The young midfielder, 17, became the latest Academy product to make his first team debut when he stepped off the bench for the final 15 minutes of our FA Cup third round replay victory against Burnley on Wednesday night.
Part of the England squad that won the UEFA Under-17 title last summer, Josh, who has played nine times for our Under-21s this season, looked comfortable in his surroundings as we eventually ran out 4-2 winners at the Lane.
“It feels amazing,” Josh told Spurs TV. “I’ve been waiting for this all my life and now that it’s come, I’m speechless. It’s a happy moment. I’m proud, lost for words really.
“When the gaffer called me I was ready. Usually I’d be nervous, but I wasn’t nervous, I was ready to come on. I was ready, focused and getting my mind ready.
“I was happy to get on the pitch. It was a great experience.”
Just like team-mate Harry Winks, who also made his first team bow this season, Josh is determined to make sure this is just the start of his career at Spurs.
“Yes, it has to be the start,” he added. “Hopefully it’s the first of many and I can push on now.”
