Jordan takes the positives

Jordan Archer put this week's disappointing result against Bolton Wanderers in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League down to experience, insisting negative results can still aid the development of our young players.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper, who was also on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League outing against FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the Ukraine, was stunned by Bolton’s late rally as our Under-21s contrived to let a 2-0 lead slip to crash 5-2 on Monday.

The dismissal of centre-back Dominic Ball mid-way through the second half led to Bolton notching their first goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot, with the visitors going on to add significantly to the scoreline before full-time.

Clearly disappointed with the late collapse, Jordan insisted the lads will learn from the defeat.

“The line-up was completely different by the end of the game, but that happens in football and it’s all part of the experience,” said the Scotland Under-21 international.

“These games do help, but we’re disappointed as it wasn’t good enough in the end.

“In the first half we absolutely dominated them and I couldn’t see a way of them getting in.

“But things changed in the second half, it gave them a bit of momentum, they got the penalty and after that they just put their foot on the gas.”
