Reading U19s 0-7 Spurs

John Sutton bagged four goals as our Under-19s ran riot in the second half against plucky Reading.

The home side battled well in what was a scrappy first half but it all changed after the break.

Sutton opened the scoring from David Galbraith's cross after 50 minutes and the striker slotted home a penalty to double the score after Galbraith was brought down.

The third came via Dean Marney's free-kick on the hour and Mark Hughes headed home a corner for number four 10 minutes later.

Sutton's hat-trick soon followed via another Galbraith assist and Ron Henry headed home a corner for the sixth with 75 minutes on the clock.

The deadly duo of Galbraith and Sutton combined again for the seventh and final goal to make it four for Sutton and seven up for the lads.

Boss Pat Holland reflected: "The first half was tight, Reading were very enthusiastic and we didn't dominate it by a long chalk.

"We needed a goal to settle us down and that's exactly how it turned out.

"It was a nice reward for the boys and I think that's the first time I've had a team score seven as a youth team manager.

"I've had one against me as well though and you always feel a little sympathy for the opposing manager."
