Our tour of America served a great purpose for two particular players on and off the pitch.
Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen both took advantage of the chance to get to know their new team-mates better as the squad spent 11 days together in the States.
Both had positive words about the experience.
“It’s been amazing,” said Jan. “The manager, the staff, the players, everyone has helped me. I’m so happy to play for Spurs.”
Gylfi scored a wonderful winning goal as we beat New York Red Bulls 2-1 in the third and final match of the tour - the Barclays New York Cup, powered by Under Armour – at the Red Bull Arena in New York.
“Off the pitch, the lads have been fantastic, it’s been easy to join in and get used to be around them,” he added
“Going away from England and being around them 24/7 has obviously helped that, especially for me and Jan coming into the group. We’ve all gelled well.”
