'I always try to be decisive' - Hugo

Hugo Lloris insists he always subscribes to the old cliché of taking one game at a time.

Our popular goalkeeper, currently preparing for France’s World Cup campaign, earned praise from far and wide for his performances in the 2013-14 season.

The 27-year-old made his own contribution to our eventual 69-point tally in the Premier League with a string of fine saves to keep our various opponents at bay.

And with the French national team’s captain looking to continue his fine form at the showpiece tournament in Brazil later this month, he gave an honest insight into what goes through his mind ahead of each game.

“It’s always difficult when you concede goals when you’re a goalkeeper but you have to always stay mentally strong, keep a good spirit and work every day. It helps the team to get results,” Hugo said.

“I’m never looking beyond the next game, I’m just focussed about the game which is coming and I did that all this season.

“I always try to be decisive for the team to help the team to win. That is my job.”
