Hull vs Spurs - Daws' inner focus

Sat 01 February 2014, 09:07|Tottenham Hotspur

Michael Dawson acknowledged the quality Hull City have in their side – but once again insisted it’s all about us ahead of this afternoon’s clash at the KC Stadium.

Our long-serving skipper knows all about the midfield prowess of Hull anchorman Tom Huddlestone following the latter’s time at White Hart Lane – and he’s also kept a keen eye on the Tigers’ business in the January transfer window.

But as we get set to oppose Steve Bruce’s men for the third time this season – after consecutive home wins in the Premier League and Capital One Cup back in October – Daws insists his main focus is on our own abilities and how we can ensure we claim the points today.

“When you play Hull it’s a big, big test,” he said. “In the two games at home they set up and made themselves hard to beat and worked their socks off.

“With the quality that they’ve got that we know about with Tom – and obviously they’ve made some good signings in January – it’ll be a tough game, but it’s about us.

“We concentrate on what we do because we are that good and we believe we can go there and put on a good performance and come away with three points.”

Naturally, Daws sees this afternoon’s game as an ideal opportunity to consign Wednesday night’s heavy defeat to Manchester City to the history books – and get back into the winning groove.

“Wednesday was another tough night,” he added. “To get beat by five – it’s hard to take and it’s never easy but we have a chance to put it right like we did earlier in the season.

“We went on a good run after the Liverpool defeat and we’ve got to go on one now, starting with Hull City. It’ll be a big game for us.”
