Andros Townsend paid tribute to Harry Kane after the striker's eighth cup goal of the campaign helped sink Brighton on Wednesday night.

Harry made it eight goals in seven cup appearances this term with the second in our 2-0 win against the Seagulls in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup at the Lane.

Andros claimed the assist to Harry's goal after Erik Lamela bagged the key opening goal on 54 minutes.

The win took us into the last eight of the competition and we'll face Newcastle at the Lane during the week commencing December 15.

Andros is two years older than Harry but the pair played regularly at Under-21 level as Harry progressed quickly through the ranks.

And he's delighted every time Harry hits the back of the net.

"Harry’s always had fantastic talent," said Andros. "Last season he was handed his chance in the Premier League and he took that chance.

"I think he’s been very patient and every time he’s played in the Europa League or Capital One Cup he’s scored his goals and we all know that if he gets a chance, he’ll score.

"Every time he’s played he’s scored goals and tonight was no different. It’s great to have a player who when he’s on the pitch, you know he’s going to score goals. He’s a great player for us, a great talent."
