Ginola at 50 - rewind - when Hugo met David

To mark David Ginola's 50th birthday today, we're revisiting the day he got together with another French Spurs great - our current captain Hugo Lloris - for a wonderful interview together.

The meeting was just before Christmas last year and David was over from France interviewing Hugo for French TV.

After that interview, they sat down together again for Spurs TV.

The pair were together for hours and when it came to Hugo speaking about the impact of David on his early career, Hugo almost brought tears to David's eyes...

Hugo: "He was one of the first French players to go to the Premier League and it was my generation, when I grew up. I remember David when he played for Newcastle and of course at Tottenham. He’s an example as a man and a footballer. Sometimes when someone asks ‘who inspired you’ I can David Ginola was one of those players. He was so fantastic on the pitch and he had an aura. You can’t really describe it. I’m proud now to share a moment with him, even just an hour, because you don’t have a lot of opportunities like this."

David: "When you say something like that, it’s very emotional. Thank you."

David to the fans: "I love you guys, you gave me so much joy for my time at Spurs and it’s something I will remember for the rest of my life. You are part of me. When you get older, you still dream about some of the things you did and I remember going down the left wing at White Hart Lane and looking at fans in the stand and sharing the same passion for the club. And I promise, with these guys (pointing to Hugo), you are going to have great results. I promise that."
