Club ambassador Gary Mabbutt joined patients and staff to officially open the new Kidney and Diabetes Centre in Tottenham Hale.
The new Centre is the largest dialysis unit outside a hospital in the country and has the capacity to treat up to 270 patients each week on its 48 dialysis stations.
Gary was given a tour of the facilities before meeting a number of local Spurs fans who are receiving treatment at the centre.
Speaking at the opening, the former Club captain said: “It’s an honour to be here today to officially open the new Kidney and Diabetes Centre. The new facilities are like a breath of fresh air. Speaking to patients, I can see how they are already benefitting from the new services available.”
Dr John Connolly, clinical director of nephrology, renal transplant and urology, said: “The unit is about preventing patients developing kidney disease and this centre is going to help us do that in Tottenham, in Haringey and in Enfield.”
The Club is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the local community and delivers a number of programmes through Tottenham Hotspur Foundation aimed at educating and supporting local residents on how to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
