Gareth Bale has been named BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year for 2010.

Gareth Bale has been named BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year for 2010.

The result - following a public vote - was revealed on BBC Wales TV, radio and online services on Monday evening.

The award was announced at the prestigious BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year 2010 awards ceremony held at the 2010 Ryder Cup Clubhouse at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, which celebrated the past year in Welsh sport.

Gareth has enjoyed an incredible 2010, kicking-off with his return to the first team at Spurs for the FA Cup tie against Peterborough United on January 2 and going from high to high.

His performances have also been recognised by making the shortlist on the FIFA/FIFpro World XI and UEFA.com's Team of the Year.
