Foundation's primary school provision showcased at the Lane

Tottenham Hotspur Foundation showcased the range of programmes on offer to local primary schools in its first ‘Primary School Day’ at White Hart Lane, in partnership with St Paul’s & All Hallows’ School.

All 415 students from St Paul’s and All Hallows’ were invited to participate in literacy, numeracy, sports and health activities delivered by the Foundation’s Education and Schools team.

The day started with assembly in the East Stand where all pupils were rewarded with a Tottenham Hotspur replica kit.

Teachers from schools in the surrounding boroughs were invited to observe the sessions and gain a greater insight into the programmes available.

The Foundation currently delivers programmes in primary schools across Enfield, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Barnet, Broxbourne and Epping Forest.

Staff from the Foundation’s Education and Schools team work closely with teaching staff to deliver Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 physical education sessions in-line with the national curriculum. In-turn, this provides pupils and teaching staff with access to high quality sports coaching through the Foundation. From September 2015, the Foundation will also offer gym and dance provision as part of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.

The Foundation also provides ‘Extra-Time Literacy’ - an innovative programme combining literacy with mentoring to raise self-esteem and increase aspirations for disengaged students. This provision sees students work with a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation in-class mentor for 10 weeks, before continuing with monthly mentoring sessions that encourage motivation, focus and engagement during lesson times.

One-off half-day workshops at White Hart Lane are also offered to local schools.
