Federico feeling confident

Federico Fazio believes the team’s performance against Everton gave everyone a lift heading into Wednesday’s trip to Chelsea.

We take on the unbeaten league leaders just three days after goals from Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado, coupled with a fine team display, saw us recover from a goal down to triumph 2-1 against the Toffees at White Hart Lane.

And as we prepare to visit Stamford Bridge as part of a full midweek Premier League programme, centre-half Federico says we’ll enter the match in confident mood after the weekend’s endeavours.

“There’s only three days’ recovery for the Chelsea match after Sunday, but it was a very important result at the weekend and this is good for the team going into the game,” said the Argentine, who partnered Jan Vertonghen at the back against Everton.

“The team improved in the match on Sunday and this is very important as we have a lot of games coming up.”

Reflecting on our latest win, Federico added: “It was a very intelligent performance. They had a chance early and scored – it can be very difficult to start like that – but the team was calm and mentally very strong to continue in the game and turn it around to get the result.”
